Working Steps of the Hydraulic Static Pile Driver

Step 1: Site Positioning

Level the construction ground first to make sure the ground can bear the full machine weight.

  • Mark each pile position accurately on site following the construction drawings.
  • Use the hydraulic walking system with horizontal and vertical cylinders to move and adjust the machine, aligning the center of the pressing frame with the marked pile spot.

Step 2: Lifting & Alignment

Fix the machine in place before lifting precast piles, such as pre-stressed concrete pipe piles or steel piles.

  • Lift the pile vertically from storage using the onboard hydraulic crane or an external crawler crane.
  • Lower the pile into the machine’s central clamping unit.
  • Operators adjust pile verticality with an electronic level or plumb bob. Accurate upright positioning is critical; minor tilt may lead to slanting or broken piles during pressing.

Step 3: Clamping the Pile

  • High-pressure hydraulic cylinders push clamping jaws to grip the pile tightly.
  • Clamping force adjusts automatically based on pile material and wall thickness. It prevents slipping during pressing while avoiding crushing concrete piles from excessive squeezing.

Step 4: Static Pressing (Core Process)

Hydraulic power turns into a steady downward pressure to drive piles into soil.

  • Main hydraulic cylinders extend down to push the clamping unit and sink the pile into the ground smoothly.
  • Once cylinders reach full stroke, clamps release the pile, retract upward, re-clamp, and repeat the pressing cycle.

Step 5: Joint Welding / Extension (Optional)

Connect pile sections when the single-pile length cannot meet the required depth.

  • Stop pressing when the top of the first pile stays 0.5–1 m above ground.
  • Hoist the next pile and align its bottom end with the top of the installed pile.
  • Weld the steel ends of two piles or connect via mechanical couplers. Resume pressing after cooling and inspection.

Step 6: Final Pressing & Verification

  • Stop construction once the pile tip reaches the bearing stratum, like hard weathered rock or compact soil, hitting the designed depth or preset final hydraulic pressure.
  • Site engineers record final hydraulic pressure readings. The pressure value reflects ground resistance, serving as an on-site load test to guarantee qualified bearing capacity.

Step 7: Releasing & Shifting

  • Clamping cylinders retract fully to release the finished pile.
  • Lift the outriggers and shift the whole machine to the next marked pile location to restart the whole construction procedure.
