Check wear parts (tips): The tips (teeth) directly contact the material. Replace them before they wear down to the limit (usually removable, welded, or pin-type tips); otherwise, the base metal of the jaw will wear.

Check hydraulic hoses: Scrap handling environments are harsh – steel wires can easily scratch the hoses. Regularly inspect for leaks or hose bundle wear.

Weak gripping or incomplete closing:
